How do I report a crime?
- If the crime is in progress, call 9-1-1.
- If the crime has already occurred and an officer is needed to respond, call 9-1-1 or (320) 732-2156 for Long Prairie Police Department or to report it to the Todd County Dispatch Center, (320) 732-2157.
- If the crime has already been committed and an officer is not needed to respond, or if a report is needed for documentation purposes only, call the Long Prairie Police Department at (320) 732-2156.
Where is the Long Prairie Police Department located?
The Long Prairie Police Department is located at 615 Lake Street South.
The police department is open 24/7!
The City Hall Desk hours of operation:
Monday through Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Saturday and Sunday: Closed
Where can I apply for a gun permit?
Applicants for permits to purchase handguns must apply in person to the police department in the city in which they live. They must also present a valid Minnesota driver's license or identification card with their current address. If the applicant does not live in a city, they must apply at the Sheriff's Office of the county they reside.
City of Long Prairie residents may apply for a permit to purchase (not a permit to carry) at the Long Prairie Police Department, 615 Lake St. S, MN 56347. The Information Desk is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Where can I apply for a permit to conceal and carry?
State of Minnesota Permits to Carry must be requested through the Sheriff's Department of the county in which you reside.

How or where can I dispose of my old prescription medications?
Expired medications can be dropped off at the medication drop box in City Hall.
How do I find out if my car was towed?
Call the Long Prairie Police Department at (320) 732-2156. You must provide the license plate number for the vehicle for the Officer to check the tow logs for that information.
How do I report an illegally parked vehicle?
Call parking violations at (320) 732-2156. Please be sure to include the location, the type of violation, and description of the vehicle (with license plate) if possible.
Where can I be fingerprinted?
Currently, the Long Prairie Police Department does not provide this service.
The Todd County Sheriff's Office does provide fingerprinting. Please call the Todd County Sheriff's Office at (320) 732-2157 for more information.
