Small Businesses Are the Backbone of Minnesota

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy, small businesses are truly the backbone of Minnesota’s economy, making up 99.5% of all businesses and employing 1.3 million people. That’s almost half of the state’s entire workforce!

Each dollar spent at a small business supports our amazing community with increased tax revenue, which helps improve our services and infrastructure while also providing local jobs for local people. The result? A higher standard of living that everyone in Long Prairie can enjoy.

It’s also been noted that independent locally-owned businesses recirculate 48% of their revenue locally compared to 13% by chain businesses.

Dollar for dollar, when you shop local in Long Prairie, you also support economic growth, job creation, and support one-of-a-kind restaurants and shops that add a vibrant character to the community.

Happy shopping!
