Say Hello to Todd County Development Corporation’s Board Members

We’re blessed to have a leadership team that has not only lived in Todd County for most of their lives, but who truly believe in what our amazing community has to offer for businesses and residents.

They work overtime to ignite initiatives, encourage our young adults to return to their roots, and support commerce, striking the perfect balance between thoughtful economic growth and forward-thinking innovation.

Jim Lunemann: Chairman

Jim came to Todd County in 1978 and enjoyed a successful career as a nutritionist/field rep for Land-O-Lakes for over 30 years.
His extensive experience in agriculture piqued the interest of a county commissioner, who asked Jim to join the board of the Todd County Development Corporation (TCDC).

“My vision is to proactively identify the resources and services needed for businesses to thrive and locate here in the future,” he said.

Allison Frederickson: Vice Chairman

Allison lives in Wadena County, granting her a board position at large.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota, she lived in the Twin Cities for over a decade before she and her husband realized how much they wanted to return to their roots. In 2018, they made their move back to Wadena County.

“I have been here ever since and wouldn’t have it any other way,” she said. “Rural communities offer an incredible quality of life, and I’m proud to call one home.”

Allison is currently the Member and Energy Services Manager for Todd-Wadena Electric, overseeing its economic development program. “As a cooperative, one of our principles is concern for the community so we are always looking for active ways to make an impact. This is why I serve on TCDC.” She also sits on the Alliance board, which is Wadena County’s economic development organization.

“I want to contribute to the continued growth and success of our region by supporting efforts that create opportunity, strengthen our local businesses, and give our young people reasons to stay, or come back home,” she said. “My personal vision is to see Todd County continue to grow as a place where businesses can open and succeed, good jobs are available, and people choose to stay or return to build their lives here. I want our county to be a place where communities, families, and businesses can thrive.”

Doug Schmidt: Treasurer

Doug was raised in Todd County. After spending several years away for college and working in the Metro area, he returned home to stay.

“Since my return, I have been deeply committed to our community through my involvement with organizations such as the Red Cross, the Long Prairie Chamber, the Jaycees, and as a founder of the Community Growth Fund,” he said.

He currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Osakis Lake Association and is an active member of the CentraCare Foundation Board and the Charitable Giving Planning board. He is very involved in his parish, St. Mary of Mount Carmel, where he serves on numerous Five Star ACC committees.

“My involvement with the TCDC board is fueled by a sincere desire to make our region more vibrant. I am dedicated to creating an environment where people truly want to come, live, and thrive in our county,” he said.

Victor Carlson: Director

Victor graduated from Clarissa High School in 1970 then went on to attend Moorhead State College. Before graduating, he was given the opportunity to buy a neighbor’s farm, which he purchased in partnership with his wife, Peg.

As a lifelong resident of Todd County, his vision is to use the resources available to us while also stimulating new business opportunities and exploring other avenues for growth.

Larry Dickinson: Director

“I have lived in Todd County my entire life,” said Larry. Despite retiring from his job as general manager of a farmer-owned cooperative, he remains very active in agriculture and still operates a crop farm.

“My vision is to improve the quality of life and the economy of Todd County,” he said.

Daryl Brever: Director

Daryl was born in Todd County in 1953, a place he’s called home for nearly 73 years. Daryl is a graduate of Clarissa Public School and the University of Minnesota, Morris.

He retired from Central Bi-Products (a division of Farmers Union Marketing and Processing Association) after nearly 42 years of employment, the last 28 years spent as the Complex Manager of the Long Prairie location.

“I felt my manufacturing and management experience could add useful perspective to the board's efforts,” he said.

While recognizing that Todd County has traditionally relied on agriculture for employment and economic strength, his vision for the region includes thoughtful expansion.

“I would like to see modernization and diversification in the future to complement our current strengths and provide varied new opportunities to maintain and enhance future growth. Let’s keep our kids home.”

Lewis Noska: County Commissioner

Having lived in Todd County his entire life, Lew’s background as a County Commissioner and Forester has given him a unique perspective on the economic landscape of Todd County.

He serves on the TCDC board as a non-voting county commissioner.

“My vision for Todd County is to retain our youth, drive economic growth and ensure affordable taxes.”

Bob Byers: County Commissioner

Shortly after moving to Todd County in 1986, Bob began operating his print and mail company, which is now in its 24th year. He’s also one of two non-voting county commissioners represented on the TBDC board.

“I want to continue traditions, explore new opportunities and provide great county and community services to our residents,” he said.
