General Notice to the Public

Pursuant to City of Long Prairie Ordinance 7.201 – 7.206, property owners are required to remove the snow and ice from public sidewalks which abut their property. The ordinance states that "no such owner shall allow ice, snow, etc. to remain on the sidewalk for more than 24 hours after the fall or accumulation thereof." In the event the sidewalks are not cleaned, the city will clean them and bill you for the cost. The city charges a fee of $100.00 per hour with a minimum bill of $100.00.  If the bill is not timely paid, the charge will be assessed against the property. This Ordinance is in place from November 1st to April 1st.
